Junior Judges Project
In March 2007, CEC was engaged by the Children's Book Council of Australia to develop a web site so that
schools, their teachers and student could have the opportunity to cast a vote for their favourite book,
in five
different categories, from the shortlisted books for the 2007 Children's Book of the Year Awards.
The judging runs over 4 months giving the students plenty of time to
read and vote for their favourite books.

This is a new concept and nobody knew how this project would be received by the more than 10,000 schools across Australia.
There was a limited budget most of which was used for the mail-out and a
small amount left for the web site. Given the speculative nature of the
project, we were pleased to accept the challenge.
The timeline was tight, about five weeks, and the site had to be tested and published to
coincide with the mail out to schools.
To get things started an invitation letter and Book Week poster was sent
out to all the schools. Then a link was put on the CBCA national site.
Within a couple of days there were numerous inquiries and registrations. After just
5 months, we clocked up over 115,000 hits
with 48,900 students participating.
Junior Judges Project is ranked No.1 on Google, Yahoo and ninemsn.
The site was built using ASP.NET 2.0 and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005. The database is MS SQL Server 2005.
CEC is proud to be associated with the CBCA and is now working on a major redevelopment of their national web site.
